Now that it has already started getting colder in the mornings, was just wondering who has already turned their heating on?
I've got an extra jumper on in the mornings!

Literally just turned my heating on. Locking down the summer ventilation and rechecking the draft-proofing. Also might redo the crappy cling film stuff on our one remaining single glazed window.

No heating on at home yet, despite pressure from management! Trying to last as long as possible.

Two days to go until the start of the heating season at DMU. We had some requests for heating last week, but we've managed to persuade everyone to hold on. We're changing the timers on the Building Management Systems (BMS) this year to initially just heat the buildings from roughly 6am to 10am.. We're hoping that if we take the chill off in the morning the heat from people and things will enable the buildings to coast for the rest of the day. This won't work for them all (something with the thermal mass of Trinity House will take 2-3 days just to warm up), but it will be good to see how long we can get away with this. It will be interesting to see which building 'breaks' first. A combination of building physics and human attitude will determine the the outcome.

Excellent! Please do keep us posted on this.

We've finally got a boiler that is programmable, so despite going from an inefficient back boiler to a modern condensing combi, I sort of suspect our gas consumption at home will go up this year as it ticks through its programme rather than us turning it on and off manually only when we want it... It will be interesting to see.
